Critical Reading (Short Story Unit, Part 2)
Welcome to Unit 9! Short Stories are provided in a Read and Stop Form. Please follow along with audio if provided.
Common Core Goals:
RL 6.1: Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences from the text.
RL 6.2 : Determine a theme or central idea of a text and provide a summary of the text.
RL 6.3: Describe how a story’s plot unfolds in a series of episodes as well as how the characters respond or change as the plot moves toward a resolution.
RL 6.4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used n a text—Figurative, connotative, tone)
RL 6.5 : Analyze how a particular sentence, chapter, stanza fits into the overall structure of a text and contributes to the development of the theme, setting, plot.
RL 6.1 : Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.
SL 6.1: Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions( one on one, groups, and teacher led) with diverse partners on grade 6 topics, texts, issues, building on their own ideas and expressing their own clearly.

a. Reader's Response: What are some advantages and disadvantages to growing up? Use pages to write a paragraph and submit.
b. Please answer/discuss comprehension questions for “Eleven”

Step 3: Read “The Wounded Wolf”
a. Listen to the audio while reading.
b. Please complete the Read and Stop.
c. Class discussion of answers.
d. Reader's Response: Based on what you have read, what general statements can you make about wolf relationships? Use pages to write a paragraph and submit to google classroom.
